Data You Give Us Directly
Search Queries
A name or location entered in a search tool is sent directly to the outside provider that operates that search. The provider processes the request and supplies the response. We do not retain or record those search terms on our own systems.
Messages and Contact Submissions
When you email us, the message is retained for response purposes. It is kept within our organization unless disclosure is required by a legal duty.
Data We Gather Automatically
Our servers automatically receive limited technical information whenever a visitor loads a page:
- Page-view dates and times
- The referring website, when one is available
- Visited pages and the length of each visit
- Device category and operating system
- Browser name and version
- The device’s assigned IP address
Cookies and Analytics
Cookies are small files placed on a device. They and our analytics services help combine traffic information, such as popular pages and points where visits end. You may block cookies through browser controls, although doing so can cause some site functions to operate differently.
What We Do With This Data
- Route search submissions to the relevant outside provider
- Diagnose and repair technical problems
- Measure which content visitors use and where improvements are needed
- Operate the website and maintain its performance
- Display advertising that may reflect visitor interests
No Criminal-Record Data on File
We do not keep, assemble, or sell a database of personal criminal records. The published material identifies how Greene County records may be sought from the Greene County Sheriff’s Office, the 31st Judicial Circuit courts in Springfield, the Missouri State Highway Patrol Criminal Justice Information Services Division Central Repository, and the Missouri Sex Offender Registry. We are not a consumer reporting agency under the Fair Credit Reporting Act, and visitor information is not compiled into consumer reports or third-party criminal files.
Third-Party Search Partners
Outside companies operate the search boxes. Information entered there is governed by the provider’s privacy policy rather than this policy. Each provider controls its own retention and disclosure practices, which are outside our control. Review those terms before running a search.
Links to Other Websites
Links may lead to the Greene County Sheriff, Missouri court portals, state agencies, legal-aid organizations, or outside search tools. Once you follow an external link, the destination’s privacy policy applies. Read that policy before providing personal information.
Some advertising providers may observe activity across multiple websites to select interest-based advertising. That processing occurs on the provider’s systems, not ours.
Who Might See Your Data
Personal data is not sold. Limited information may be disclosed to:
- Advertising networks that deliver ads on the website
- Government or law-enforcement authorities responding to a valid legal order
- Analytics providers that measure site traffic and operation
- Search providers that process a query submitted through their tool
How We Protect Your Data
Reasonable, standard safeguards are used for information we collect. No internet-based system can be guaranteed secure, however, so we cannot promise that unauthorized access or a breach will never occur.
Users Under 18
This website is intended for adults, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone younger than 18. If we learn that a minor provided such information, we will delete it promptly.
Your Data Rights
Rights over personal data depend on the law that applies to you. In Missouri, the Sunshine Law, Chapter 610, governs access to state and local government records, while Mo. Rev. Stat. § 43.540 governs dissemination of Missouri criminal-history information. Those public-record laws do not turn this private website into a government custodian. Subject to applicable law, you may:
- Object to or opt out of certain processing
- Request deletion of personal information
- Ask that inaccurate personal information be corrected
- Request access to personal information maintained about you
Updates to This Policy
This policy may be revised. Any revised text will be posted here along with a replacement effective date, and continued use will be subject to the posted version.
